Ultimately, everybody needs a relaxing bedroom sanctuary, that one place in your home that you can retreat to and destress from the world outside. Stepping into your sleeping space should fill you with serenity and joy and feel like a breath of fresh morning air in a field filled with daisies and tweeting birds, engulfed by the rising sun. Ok, maybe too far but you get my point?
Our bedrooms need to be energetically calm and restorative and allow us to rejuvenate from our busy, and not so busy, days. As well as feeling and looking amazing, calm and peaceful bedrooms have been scientifically proven to positively impact our quality of sleep.
Here are our 5 Easy ways to create a relaxing bedroom sanctuary for the spiritually inclined

1) Declutter, Declutter, Declutter

Did you know that clutter raises the level of the stress hormone cortisol, overwhelms the brain triggering coping mechanisms like overeating and binging and actually can have a negative impact on our respiratory systems due to extra particles of dust? 😮
It's time to declutter that room! Clean and clear your bedroom of all unneeded junk and create surface space that is pleasing on the eyes.
Boxes are a clever way to create a stylish design feature whilst hiding all your random bedroom clutter and collected junk. Underbed storage is another great way to keep your room looking minimal but retain access to your things.
Do not skip this step!
To get that relaxing sanctuary, this is essential.
2) Add a touch of Mother Earth

I fricken love plants! It has literally been proven that plants are psychological goddesses and help boost our mental health resulting in happier humans ✌. Research shows that plants create an aura of peace and calm and help connect us to Mother Nature making us feel more free and flowing and even improve the quality of the air we breathe. My favourite plants to jungle up your bedroom would be the gorgeous Cheese Plant , the easy to care for Snake Plant and the wild Pothos vine. Hanging plants on shelves also create a cute earthy look.
3) Shine with a Salt Lamp

Himalayan Salt lamps are solid chunks of hand-carved salt from deep within the Himalayan Mountains. They are popular due to their positive impact that they are said to have on our health.
I fully recommend having one of these in your bedroom.
Why are Himalayan Salt lamps so good?
Firstly, the ambience from the light is dreamy and helps to create the perfect environment for a good night's sleep.
Secondly, Himalayan Salt Lamps are popular in the holistic health world where they suggest that they have many health benefits such as; decreasing allergies and headaches, reducing EMF radiation and improving respiratory illness like asthma and COPD.
To top it off, these Salt Lamps are also known as mood boosters and help to improve anxiety.
I recommend a solid Salt Lamp for the full impact but they are also available in smaller chunks.
4) Get yourself an Essential Oil Diffuser
For myself, this was a game changer.
Essential Oil Diffusers allow your bedroom to smell divine and have many benefits to your health, sleep patterns and energy bank.
Depending on the essential oil you choose, benefits can include:

Improved relaxation and sleep.
Elevated mood.
A boost in you immune system.
Ward of illness and bugs.
Easier breathing.
Pain relief
& many many more.
My go to at the moment is Eucalyptus Oil which along with many other benefits helps with respiratory illnesses, allergies, boosts mental clarity and it genuinely smells like heaven.
Other common oils include, Lavender for relaxation, Ylang ylang as an effective antidepressant and Sandalwood for clarity and calmness.
My diffuser also has a calming light feature which I also love to use as it adds to the ambience!
5) Meaningful Art
My room is scattered with positive posters and photos that help me start my day on the right frequency and with the right motivation for the day ahead. Beside my bed I have my affirmation print "I am enough" and I smile every morning when I open my eyes.
Your bedroom should be the space where you feel most yourself and ignite a sense of ambition and determination for your life goals and dreams. I am obsessed with manifestation and The Law of Attraction so my bedroom reflects this through positive decor and images.
So there it is, my 5 Easy ways to create a relaxing bedroom sanctuary for the spiritually inclined.
